I do says the robot as he is now finishing the process of entering into a marriage with his partner, a biological human being. According to dictionary.com , marriage is defined as the following, any of the diverse forms of interpersonal union established in various parts of the world to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities. Regarding this definition of what constitutes a marriage it does not specify partners whether that is; husband and wife, husband and husband, wife and wife or even a robot and husband or wife. A marriage between a synthetic robot and biological human is ethical. This traditionalist view has been more and more skewed as society progresses. As society progresses to more traditional views upon different subjects the traditional view will soon become justified. Time will pass and during this time less will object to this kind of marriage. While this type of marriage is different to what one is used to it does no harm to anyone and if the ones involved are happy that is what should matter. Traditions are ever changing through time and many start there own traditions and new traditions evolve which is why a marriage between a synthetic like robot and biological human should be deemed ethical. Although there are people who want the traditional like marriage to be the only ethical option available in 2015 America made a step forward when gay marriage became legal. In the landmark supreme court case Objergefell vs. Hodges which made same sex marriages legal, passing 5-4. The passing of this court case was a long battle for same sex couples. A battle that had been going on for decades and a monumental victory. It was said during this case, the decision whether and whom to marry is among life s momentous acts of self definition. If same sex marriage can be passed among the fact it’s a momentous act of self definition then why would a marriage between a robot and biological human not be ethical?
